Just finished “building” the 60001 Lifetime shed on a 9’ x 12’ concrete base. Overall, the experience was a bit time consuming and somewhat frustrating (specifically the doors) but otherwise satisfactory. As others have written, make absolutely sure your base is flat and level. As with most things in life, a solid well built foundation is the key to success. Having said that, my totally level base did not eliminate the need for shimming to square up the doors on both sides of the building (substantial shimming for the front side - very disappointing and frustrating).
Based on our experience, I would offer the following suggestions: Read the directions completely before beginning and pay close attention to the doors – the doors may look identical but one set is strictly for the side location and the other for the front location. The directions point this out but, in my opinion, do not emphasize this important distinction adequately. Regarding the roof, when installing the first roof truss, the instructions call for initially installing the truss followed by the roof panel. We had much better luck locating the roof panel first and then sliding the truss under the panel. We used the same procedure for the end truss and the process went much smoother than doing as the instructions indicated.
The shed is attractive but the doors and the shimming really bother me. We had some rain last night and the interior of the shed remained completely dry. I needed to contact Lifetime for a replacement “window” piece and they were pleasant and knowledgeable. The replacement arrived in about 4 days from first contact. One last comment regarding the delivery – we live in a rural area and our entrance road would not accommodate the width of the delivery truck. The driver was terrific and worked with me to load both shipping cartons into the back of my pickup using his lift gate and some maneuvering.
