separator We bought this 10x4 shed kit and assembled it within a couple of days or so, despite running into a few difficulties along the way. Despite these, we now have a complete shed, and we are very satisfied with its sturdiness and fitness for our use of storing camping gear and other items.

We also purchased and installed a flooring assembly from this manufacturer at the same time we purchased the shed kit. It too had assembly difficulties, though these were easier to overcome.

The shed assembly instructions utilize a dual numbering system, including a two-digit part identifier assigned to each major kit item in the assembly manual, along with a five-digit part number stamped on the individual parts in most cases. This caused a bit of initial confusion during assembly, but after a while we became adept in translating between the two systems.

The main difficulties we ran into in assembling the shed were due to the packer's inclusion of the wrong parts in the shed kit box. Specifically, the shed roof was supposed to have a left panel and a right panel with holes drilled in the latter a mirror image of the left. We received two of the same panel instead of one of each. (The two panels we received were stamped with the same 5-digit identifier.) Thus, our work-around became one of drilling about 10 holes in the second roof panel to match where the holes should have been so that we could continue assembling the shed. We chose to do that (and fill the other 10 holes that were in the wrong places) so we could finish the shed assembly rather than notify the factory to send us the correct roof panel instead, which we imagined would involve many days or weeks of waiting.

Similarly, when we came to one of the final steps, assembling the hinges to the two swinging doors, we discovered that the wrong hinges had been supplied in the kit. We were expecting four three-hole hinges, but four two-hole hinges with the wrong part number were supplied instead. Our work-around was to go to the local hardware store. We bought the last four (correct size) hinges they had in inventory for about $15, took them home, and easily installed them. The doors now work perfectly.

This review is primarily about the shed kit but note that we also had difficulties with the floor frame kit. We discovered that the floor frame should be assembled with the machine screws and nuts tightened only to finger tight. If the fasteners are tightened with a wrench, the floor frame would not fit in our shed. Just finger-tightened, though, everything fit. We then bought a couple of pieces of plywood at the local hardware store, and these fit perfectly on top of the aluminum frame, though we did have to measure carefully (as recommended in the floor kit instructions) to make sure of the measurements before going to the hardware store and could not rely on the plywood measurements that were suggested in the kit.

As assembled, the shed is good looking, sturdy, and functional. We like it! We believe it will provide us decades of useful service, unlike the previous plastic (polyethylene) shed we bought from a different manufacturer that developed cracks in the corner walls within a few years. We recommend the Arrow 10x4 select metal shed kit but do hope their part packing Quality Control function will improve.
