Wow. So I consider myself extremely handy and can work work almost anything. I've built lots of different things and am at this moment constructing an engineered steel building. Two actually.
First and foremost let new say this product assembly is awful. It's impossible to build solo and even with two there are sections that cannot be done. It takes a minimum of 3 people.
Secondly, buckle up because this thing will burn 5-6 full days with as many people. So if you think this is a simple weekend project, you'd better punt on this one. It's three full weekends. Now, I'm skilled. I'm no weekend warrior thinking because I have a few power tools I can do this. My trade requires expert skill and problem solving tactics so of you are this skill level and want the challenge then go buddy. If not, perhaps this may not work for you.
There are so many issues it's hard to pick. The unit should start with a foundation plan that rails can be fully installed on top of. Wood or concrete, doesn't matter. But that's not how it goes. You are directed to start with the column and rafter connections and build from there. You install rails as you go BUT YOU DON'T SECURE THEM. So your structure, regardless of your skill level isn't fully plumb. You can't plumb a fully constructed building. Now I get it, it's a shed. Granted, but shouldn't a shed still be true? Holes do not line up and you will need to be creative as you go.
I completely finished this shed over the course of weeks because I was unprepared for the length of time needed and the errors with the design. Fortunately, I was able to re-engineer a few things song the way and make necessary modifications. Despite the fact the unit was such a bear, with my experience, skill set and hired hands the unit did turn out great. Pleas anchor your unit down once constructed. Concrete is best but a sound wooden base will do. Caulk all the bottom sides unless your concrete or wooden base is perfect.
The structure seems sound now that it's complete, fully caulked and securely anchored to concrete. I can say I would not buy this shred again.
Overall, if you love difficult projects and like to modify as you go, this may be your ticket. If not, I would pass.
