This is truly a great swing set. I was skeptical at first, as is my nature; but after opening the boxes and taking out the pieces, I quickly realized that this monster swing set is well made and extremely durable. I was worried that the poles came in multiple sections (three sections per pole) and would therefore lend to overall instability and "cheapness." That turned out not to be the case. Once the poles were seated together, it was just like one solid piece of steel, a big piece of steel (it's fairly heavy).
Assembly was a bit difficult, although it didn't take as long as other reviews made it out to be. I did it all myself, and had my wife help me stand it up at the end. Granted, I'm in my 30s, have all the right tools for the job, and am very active.
Drawbacks: swings are not very long. Each swing could use an extra six to 10 inches in length. My oldest daughter (6) is able to pull herself up onto the seat by herself. My youngest daughter (4) needs help. By making the swings shorter, the company saved a little on manufacturing cost, I'm sure. Also, the swing pivots on the top pole are cased in plastic (plastic for $474!). I couldn't believe it. It doesn't affect the function, but I would expect something completely made out of metal for the price I paid
Price: worth it. I was concerned that it cost so much, but the swing set will last a long time and can be enjoyed by anyone (the manufacturer says no adults, but there's an overall weight limit of 405 pounds--I'm 210 pounds and used it just fine. I just didn't swing aggressively and don't plan to. I'm sure the swing chains are rated to a certain weight, and it's not made for me. I did it anyway to test things out and everything was fine).
Recommendation: if you're going to have people over 120 pounds swinging, I would recommend anchoring the swing set down. You can place straps over the cross bar in the a-frame and hook them to a corkscrew peg in the ground [these anchor sets are sold in most retail stores]).
So we've had the swing set for about a month now. My kids love it. My wife loves it. I love it. It was truly a great investment. I'm military and move every two to three years. This swing set has the added advantage that it can be taken apart and moved. (The poles are held together at the top by brackets which can be taken apart. The poles, once seated, won't come apart aside from special tools).
